Bombardier’s Global 8000 has received certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration, enabling operations across the United States and advancing Bombardier’s global certification schedule.
The ultra long-range aircraft was granted Transport Canada Type Certification on 5 November 2025 and entered into service the following month. Certification by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency remains pending.
The world’s first Global 8000 has now entered into service under the operational custody of Chartright Air Group, marking the initial in-service operation of Bombardier’s newest flagship business jet. The aircraft was delivered to Canadian owner Patrick Dovigi and will be unavailable for private charter.
Stephen McCullough, senior vice president, engineering and product development at Bombardier, says: “This accomplishment is a direct result of the commitment to excellence and dedicated work of our highly skilled employees, suppliers, Transport Canada and the FAA for a collaborative, effective process. Attaining the Global 8000 certification from the FAA sets new performance standards in the industry and marks one of the final chapters in our very successful development programme for this groundbreaking business jet.”
The Global 8000 reaches cruise speeds of up to Mach 0.95 and offers a range of 8,000nm, enabling more nonstop international routes between city pairs including Toronto and Singapore, Vancouver and Dubai or Montreal and Hong Kong.
Passenger comfort and wellbeing are central to the aircraft’s design. The Global 8000 features the lowest cabin altitude in business aviation production at 2,691ft while cruising at 41,000ft, helping to reduce fatigue and physiological stress on long missions.
The aircraft’s advanced wing design supports access to up to 30 per cent more airports than its closest competitor while retaining take off and landing performance comparable to that of a light jet.
“Managing this best-in-class aircraft on behalf of our client reflects the depth of our trusted operational expertise and the strength of our longstanding relationship with Bombardier,” says Ben Boehm, chief operating officer at Chartright. “As the first to introduce the Global 7500 in Canada, we are proud to carry that legacy forward with the Global 8000. This milestone represents a significant achievement for our Chartright team and an important moment for both our company and the Canadian aerospace industry.”
“Pride and excitement only begin to describe what the entry-into-service of the Global 8000 means for all 18,000 of us at Bombardier,” adds Eric Martel, president and chief executive officer at Bombardier. “Every innovation and every detail of the Global 8000 reflects the hard work, creativity and dedication of our teams. This revolutionary aircraft is redefining the business aviation landscape with its innovative design, signature smooth ride, unmatched performance and a promise fulfilled to our customers.”
Bombardier supports a global fleet of more than 5,100 business aircraft in service worldwide, with business aviation and aircraft manufacturing supporting tens of thousands of highly skilled jobs across Canada.
