Erie Sheriff adds H125 number one of two
This purchase will allow Erie County to operate a two-helicopter H125 fleet, providing enhanced operational flexibility, increased availability and expanded capability across its mission set.
The aircraft is delivered in green configuration.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office has taken delivery of the first of two Airbus H125 helicopters from Davenport Aviation, marking a significant investment in the agency's aviation capabilities and strengthening its long-term operational readiness. This aircraft, delivered in green configuration, will be outfitted with mission equipment to support the Sheriff's Office's diverse and growing operational needs across western New York.

This purchase will allow Erie County to operate a two-helicopter H125 fleet, providing enhanced operational flexibility, increased availability and expanded capability across its mission set. With responsibilities that include search and rescue, law enforcement, aerial patrols and emergency response, the Sheriff's Aviation Unit operates in some of the most challenging environments in the region. Buffalo's proximity to the Great Lakes, the Niagara Gorge, frequent severe weather and expansive rural terrain require an aircraft that can launch quickly, climb powerfully and perform reliably when lives are on the line.

“Having a second helicopter means our highly trained pilots and tactical flight officers can continue protecting the people of Erie County without interruption,” says Sheriff John Garcia. “When one aircraft is down for maintenance, our operations don't stop, and with these new H125s, neither does our ability to respond. Every second counts in search and rescue, and this investment ensures we're ready when our community needs us most.”

The Airbus H125 is widely recognised as the premier choice for public safety aviation units across the United States. Known for its power, versatility and exceptional performance in high-altitude and hot-and-cold weather environments, the H125 provides agencies like Erie County the flexibility needed for multi-mission operations. Its spacious cabin, high visibility and proven reliability make it an ideal platform for law enforcement, search and rescue, medical response and more.

“Our aircrew operate in environments where weather changes fast and terrain can be unforgiving,” reveals Capt. Ryan Rogers, who oversees aviation operations for Erie County. “The H125 gives us the performance and power to safely navigate these conditions and reach people quickly. Adding a second aircraft will dramatically increase our readiness and our ability to save lives.”

Davenport Aviation, an authorised Airbus reseller to the US government and a leading supplier of mission-ready aviation solutions, continues to support public safety agencies across the country with rapid procurement, aircraft delivery and tailored mission-equipment solutions.

“We are honoured to partner with the Erie County Sheriff's Office,” concludes Chris Arnold, director of government sales at Davenport Aviation. “The H125 is a proven workhorse for public safety, and expanding Erie County's fleet strengthens its ability to protect the community every day of the year.”
