Universal Aviation and Aerodom have inaugurated a new, purpose-built FBO terminal at Presidente Juan Bosch International Airport in Samaná, Dominican Republic. The opening is part of a wider effort to expand business aviation infrastructure in luxury destinations across the Caribbean.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials including IDAC director general Igor Rodríguez and ASONAHORES president Juan Bancalari. It is Universal’s third FBO in the country, following facilities at Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata.
Rodríguez says: “The private aviation sector in the Dominican Republic continues to show sustained growth, reflecting the economic dynamism and the country's positioning as a high-value destination.” He adds: “Investments such as this new FBO further elevate the user experience with exceptional service and modern facilities.”
Chairman Greg Evans says: “We are proud to have started our journey in the country only nine years ago… and now adding this beautiful FBO here in Samaná as a jewel in the crown.”
Danilo Rosario Jiménez, general director of Universal Aviation Dominican Republic, says: “This new FBO at Samaná Airport responds to growing demand from high-profile travellers in the region’s ultra-luxury tourism sector. By strengthening our presence in the northeastern region with world-class, personalised services, we’re supporting the area’s economic development while ensuring private and executive aviation clients receive the premium experience they expect.”
Aerodom’s Alexandra Malvezin says the terminal enhances Samaná’s global competitiveness and supports economic growth.
The 300 square-metre facility was designed by Rubén Merette and constructed by Abbot Puig. Features include a lounge, coastal terrace, crew areas, customs and eco-friendly systems.
