Zuri advances hybrid-electric tiltrotor development in Prague
The 700 kg unmanned aircraft will validate propulsion and control systems for a five-seat regional VTOL, with flight tests due in 2026.
The five-seat aircraft is designed for regional missions of up to 700 km with SAF-ready propulsion.

Zuri has continued development of its hybrid tiltrotor platform with a second-generation technology demonstrator at its R&D centre in Prague. The 700 kg unmanned Technology Demonstrator 2.0 (TD 2.0) is designed to validate key systems for a future five-seat VTOL aircraft. These include the hybrid-electric powertrain, tiltrotor mechanism and transition control laws.

TD 2.0 builds on Zuri’s earlier demonstrator, which completed testing under the supervision of the Czech LCAA. It features a redesigned tail and propulsion system aimed at improving stability in forward flight and reducing drag. The hybrid system uses an internal combustion generator combined with distributed electric propulsion.

Flight testing could begin as soon as late 2026. Iron bird testing and system integration are already underway. Insights from the demonstrator will support certification planning for Zuri’s five-seat aircraft, designed for 700 km regional routes using SAF-ready propulsion and independent of traditional airport infrastructure.
