Spirit Aeronautics expands Honeywell authorisation capabilities
Under this authorisation, Spirit Aeronautics is approved to perform maintenance and repair services on Honeywell TFE and HTF series engines, including the Honeywell 36-150 APU family.

Spirit Aeronautics has added Honeywell Aerospace engine and APU service centre authorisation to its long-established Honeywell avionics service centre status, which the company has proudly maintained for over 25 years. This expansion, timed with Spirit Aeronautics’ 25th anniversary, reflects the Columbus, Ohio-based company’s continued investment in advanced maintenance capabilities and OEM-level technical support for business aviation operators.

Under this new authorisation, Spirit Aeronautics is approved to perform maintenance and repair services on Honeywell TFE and HTF series engines, installed on aircraft such as the Bombardier Challenger 300/350, Embraer Legacy 450/500 and Praetor 500/600. The certification also includes the Honeywell 36-150 APU family, supporting a broad range of business jets including the Gulfstream G200, Dassault Falcon 2000, Falcon 900 series and the Cessna Citation Sovereign/XLS business jets.

To achieve this capability, Spirit invested significantly in OEM-provided engine training, specialised maintenance tooling, test equipment and expanded staffing. Its certified Honeywell technicians have also completed advanced training programmes covering both line and heavy maintenance tasks, ensuring all engine and APU work meets the latest Honeywell maintenance standards and documentation requirements.

As a Honeywell MSP-approved service provider, Spirit Aeronautics is now qualified to perform both scheduled and unscheduled engine and APU maintenance on aircraft enrolled in Honeywell MSP and MSP Gold programmes. This allows operators to have warranty-covered services completed under Spirit’s highly credentialed FAA repair station, minimising downtime while maintaining full programme benefit continuity through Honeywell Aerospace.

“Our expanded Honeywell authorisation positions Spirit Aeronautics to provide complete OEM-supported maintenance solutions under one roof," says president Rick Ochs. “By combining our new engine and APU service capabilities with our well-established avionics expertise, we deliver fully integrated support that enhances aircraft dispatch reliability and downtime maintenance event efficiencies.”

With these capabilities, Spirit Aeronautics now offers full-spectrum aircraft maintenance solutions including major scheduled inspections, powerplant and APU servicing, and complex avionics system integrations. These enhancements reduce the need for multiple maintenance stops, maximise aircraft availability and streamline support for flight departments.
