Offshore Helicopter Services UK (OHS UK) has signed a contract to procure two more Leonardo AW139 intermediate twin engine helicopters. The aircraft are expected to be delivered from Leonardo’s Vergiate final assembly plant in Italy in late 2026. These helicopters will join two AW139 SAR helicopters that were ordered by OHS in late 2024 and are planned to enter service in the second quarter of 2026.
This latest step from OHS testifies to its commitment to providing the latest technology contribution to the growing demand for modern, safe and effective operations at sea as well as its confidence in the outstanding capabilities of the AW139. While the first two AW139 for SAR missions will reinforce the 24/7 emergency responsiveness capability of the operator to save lives in the offshore sector in the extreme conditions of the North Sea, promptly taking off from OHS’s base in Aberdeen, the additional two AW139s announced will allow it to carry out existing and new energy industry crew change missions.
The AW139’s IOGP (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers) standard that OHS will benefit from ensures it meets the most stringent requirements for offshore operations including, among others, 12 crashworthy seats, advanced collision avoidance systems and other emergency features.
Shaun Roseveare, CEO and owner of Ultimate Aviation Group, says: “Securing these additional AW139 helicopters marks another important milestone in our longstanding partnership with Leonardo. The AW139’s proven performance, versatility and safety standards make it the ideal platform to support both our offshore energy customers and our expanding oil and gas crew change operations. We are investing in aircraft that enable us to deliver reliable, mission-ready capability for our clients while positioning OHS for sustainable global growth.”
