Reiser advances H145 D3 mixed reality sim towards FTD 3
The company has progressed its H145 D3 mixed reality simulator as LBA pre qualification supports the next steps toward full FTD 3 status.
The simulator combines a full scale haptic cockpit with XR crew stations for realistic procedural training.

Reiser Simulation and Training worked with Varjo as its H145 D3 mixed reality helicopter simulator held pre qualification by the German civil aviation authority LBA. The simulator combined a full scale haptic cockpit with two instrumented XR crew stations for the pilot and co pilot to practise SOPs checklist flows CRM and cross checks in immersive scenarios.

Reiser CTO Martin Keil says: “With this achievement, Reiser once again sets a new industry benchmark. We are the first to unite MR with a fully haptic cockpit and to do so within a system that can be seamlessly operated in our proven full-flight simulators using roll- on/roll-off cockpit technology. This innovation underlines our mission to make the power of perception come alive in every training environment.”

Varjo CRO Valentin Storz adds: “Reiser's XR simulator is integrated with Varjo’s latest XR-4 series headsets that are purpose-built for mission-critical training. Together, we are enabling pilot training to take a fundamental leap toward virtual environments. We are proud to work with Reiser in driving the adoption of qualified mixed reality FSTDs.”

The H145 D3 XR simulator held its LBA pre qualification under applicable EASA Special Conditions and was recognised as conferring FTD 3 privileges. Full FTD 3 certification was expected to follow the required FSTDO qualification process early next year.
