Detwiler appointed vp of strategy at King Aerospace
The former Boeing executive and U.S. Navy officer brings deep expertise in VIP and military aviation to strengthen King Aerospace’s growth and service strategy.
J.D. Detwiler previously served as president of Boeing Business Jets.

King Aerospace has appointed James “J.D.” Detwiler as vice president of strategy. In this role, he will use his decades of aviation experience to strengthen the company’s services to civilian, government and military customers.

“J.D. is a long-time acquaintance who brings a wealth of knowledge of both the VIP and military sectors,” says King Aerospace president Jarid King. “He’s a true people person, well-connected in our industry, and his professional business development background and strong work ethic will absolutely help bring KA to the next level. If nothing else, he’ll put a smile on everyone’s face.”

Detwiler spent 16 years with Boeing in senior roles including president of Boeing Business Jets, vice president of sales and marketing for Boeing Defense, Space & Security, and director of global sales and marketing for P-8 and maritime programmes.

King Aerospace founder and chairman Jerry Allan King-Echeverria says he is honoured to have Detwiler’s support as the company continues to serve “God, country and family.” He also thanked Detwiler’s wife, Keri, for her support.

Before Boeing, Detwiler worked with the U.S. Pacific Command and served 11 years as a naval flight officer with over 3,000 flight hours on the P-3C Orion.

“King Aerospace enjoys a well-deserved reputation among both its Boeing Business Jet and government customers,” says Detwiler. “I’m pleased to be a part of this amazing team and look forward to expanding our customer base.”
