VIP earns MIPs designation and completes Canadian Global 5500 refurb
The company’s Fort Lauderdale base has gained new authorisation to service Canadian-registered aircraft and unveiled a Global 5500 completion as its first Canadian serialised supplemental type certificate project.
The fully refurbished Global 5500 marks VIP Completions’ first Canadian SSTC project.

VIP Completions has received a maintenance implementation procedures (MIPs) designation and completed a fully refurbished Bombardier Global 5500 for a Canadian client. MIPs are bilateral agreements between the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) that allow approved organisations to perform maintenance on aircraft registered in either country, streamlining cross-border approvals and operations.

The certification expands VIP Completions’ ability to service and refurbish Canadian-registered (C-reg) aircraft at its Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport facility. This is particularly relevant given the large number of Canadian business aircraft that operate through South Florida for maintenance, winter operations, business and leisure travel.

“Many C-reg aircraft routinely visit South Florida,” says Ben Shirazi, president, VIP Completions. “And now, we can seamlessly support these aircraft at our clients' destination of choice. Earning this designation marks an important milestone for us because MIPs opens access to a large and rapidly growing market of more than 600 C-reg business aircraft.”

The Bombardier Global 5500, a long-range jet with a 5,900 nautical mile range, features a newly refurbished interior including a forward galley and crew rest area, club seating, conference suite and aft private cabin with en-suite lavatory. Finishes include Townsend leather, Tai Ping carpet, Pierre Frey linen and Holland & Sherry curtains.

“This Global 5500 is our first Canadian SSTC project,” adds Shirazi. “Together with our client, we crafted a refined, contemporary interior featuring soft tones, elegant textures and bespoke materials. The result is a cabin that perfectly embodies artistry, precision and individuality.”
