Bombardier’s Global 7500 business jet has reached its 150th speed record, the most ever set by a single business aircraft type. Recent city pair records include Tokyo to Los Angeles, Toronto to Paris, New York to London and Hong Kong to Montreal. On 20 missions, the aircraft maintained an average speed above 1,000 km/hr.
The Global 7500 had already set the longest flight ever in business aviation, covering 8,225 nautical miles from Sydney to Detroit, and achieved the longest range non-stop mission from London City to Los Angeles.
“The Global 7500 continues to redefine what is possible in business aviation,” says Jean-Christophe Gallagher, executive vice president, aircraft sales and Bombardier Defense. “Our customers count on us to deliver a business tool with the highest standards in luxury, speed and reliability, and the Global 7500 overachieves on all fronts. Many of these records have been set with passengers on board in varying conditions and airports, making these achievements even more meaningful and reaching this pinnacle more remarkable.”
With a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a baseline range of 7,700 nautical miles, the aircraft is designed with Bombardier’s Smooth Flĕx Wing for aerodynamic efficiency, reduced emissions and smoother ride quality.
The Global 8000, expected later this year, will expand on these attributes with a range of 8,000 nautical miles, a top speed of Mach 0.94 and ultra-low cabin altitude. It is designed for improved runway performance comparable to smaller aircraft while maintaining long-range efficiency.
