Weston Aviation has achieved ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) for ISCC EU, allowing it to ensure full traceability of sustainable aviation fuel across the supply chain. The company is now in a position to issue Proof of Compliance (PoC) documentation for all fuel purchased from 22 September 2025 onwards.
To meet the certification process, Weston Aviation is maintaining a robust ISCC-compliant management system. It says this ensures traceability of sustainable material and correct use of the mass balance approach.
The company confirms that all biomass and waste-based fuels supplied comply with ISCC criteria, including land use restrictions, biodiversity protection, greenhouse gas reduction and respect for human and labour rights. Internal procedures include audits, training and data verification.
“As the ISCC auditor for Weston Aviation, it was great to see the team’s clear commitment to sustainability and transparency,” says Jack Boyle, head of operations at EnviroSense International Ltd. “Their proactive approach to compliance and traceability really highlights their dedication to driving progress in the use of sustainable aviation fuel.”
Since 1 January 2025, all jet fuel in the UK and Union airports in Ireland has contained a minimum blend of 2 per cent SAF, calculated on a mass balance basis. Weston Aviation requires ISCC certification to allow trading of PoCs, which are needed by operators for reclaiming under offset schemes.
“The benefit for Weston Aviation becoming ISCC-certified is so that we do not break the chain of custody,” adds Ruth Tootill, Weston Aviation’s aviation fuel manager. “Where our ISCC-certified supplier provides a PoC for SAF, we offer traceability by passing our own PoC on to our customers.”
