IBAC to represent business aviation at ICAO Assembly
More than 30 delegates will join the International Civil Aviation Organization’s 42nd Assembly in Montreal, addressing key issues from cybersecurity to environmental goals.

The International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) will represent the global business aviation industry at the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) 42nd Assembly, taking place from 23 September to 3 October in Montreal. More than 30 credentialled delegates from around the world are attending, including representatives from IBAC member associations, industry partners and the secretariat.

“Visible engagement by business aviation at ICAO is increasingly important; therefore, we are pleased to have a record number of leaders from member associations and industry partners join us at the ICAO Assembly to demonstrate the importance of IBAC's work and help shape ICAO's output to the global business aviation sector,” says Kurt Edwards, IBAC director general.

IBAC’s work extends beyond this triennial gathering, with its team providing technical expertise throughout the year and participating in ICAO study groups and panels to ensure that standards, policies and guidance reflect the needs of business aviation.

Areas of discussion include GNSS radio frequency interference and cybersecurity, updated environmental resolutions to support net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 — including lower-carbon aviation fuels and the CORSIA global market-based measure system — progress in noise and CO₂ stringency standards, and the strengthening of regulatory frameworks for the emerging AAM sector.

The ICAO Assembly is the organisation’s sovereign body, meeting at least once every three years. ICAO’s 193 member states and a wide range of international organisations, including IBAC, are invited to take part in setting worldwide aviation policy.
