MAF adopts ELMS software
Mission Aviation Fellowship International will use the system to manage licence and authorisation compliance across 12 countries and eight regulators.
ELMS is expected to enhance MAF’s operational readiness to reach some of the remotest communities worldwide.

Mission Aviation Fellowship International (MAF), headquartered in Kent, is the latest organisation to adopt the ELMS Staff Competence Management software solution to support its technical operations. The world’s largest humanitarian air operator will initially roll out the system across 12 countries and eight different airworthiness regulators to standardise the way it manages licence and authorisation compliance.

The partnership allows MAF to digitally centralise its competency framework and maintain a focus on training and development, ensuring enough qualified aircraft maintenance staff are available against the backdrop of a global maintenance resource shortage. With its aircraft delivering humanitarian flights to acutely rural areas, many far from infrastructure and health facilities, deploying the right engineers to maintain and mobilise the fleet will be easier with the use of ELMS software.

“Being spread across 12 countries under eight different airworthiness regulators, it has been challenging to coordinate the licence and authorisation compliance of our engineering staff across the world,” says Peter Fryatt, manager of technical training. “ELMS now enables MAF to digitally store complex data in one place and gives us clear visibility of our engineers’ compliance, experience and competence. Even with our complexities, the team at ELMS have added significant value, offering decades of experience in aviation to help MAF structure our data in a way that realises benefits from the very beginning of the onboarding. Ultimately, this partnership will help MAF use our resources even more strategically so we can transform more lives in isolated locations.”

Improved visibility of staff competence and training plans will save both time and cost, ensuring the right training is identified and delivered in a timely manner. ELMS is expected to enhance MAF’s operational readiness to reach some of the remotest communities worldwide, supporting the delivery of lifesaving aid, medical assistance and development solutions.
