Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) has appointed Mark Jarman-Howe as its next chief executive officer, effective 15 September 2025.
Jarman-Howe joins from St Helena Hospice in Colchester, where he has been chief executive since 2013. He has worked extensively in end-of-life care and will now move into pre-hospital emergency medicine.
At St Helena he led around 500 staff and 900 volunteers, strengthening clinical services, income generation and community engagement.
“I am delighted and feel very privileged to be joining such a well-loved and important regional charity,” says Jarman-Howe. “EHAAT has a strong reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and patient care, and I am energised by the opportunity to lead it into its next chapter.”
Board of trustees chair Jonathan Trower says: “We are all delighted to have Mark as our new chief executive and are confident that under his leadership, EHAAT will continue to go from strength to strength.”
The appointment comes as EHAAT advances its future plans, including obtaining its own Air Operator’s Certificate, expanding its Centre for Excellence and developing new community support initiatives.
With two AW169 helicopters and rapid response vehicles, EHAAT treats around 1,900 patients a year. The charity also featured in the Netflix documentary Critical: Between Life and Death.
