Urban-Air Port and Nalwa Aero join up for Indian AAM push
The partnership aims to develop AAM infrastructure in alignment with Indian government goals and to deploy Nalwa 5X eVTOL aircraft across the country.
Certification-focused demonstrations of Nalwa Aero’s 5X are scheduled for 2026.

Urban-Air Port has partnered with Indian eVTOL developer Nalwa Aero to co-develop infrastructure for advanced air mobility in India. Under the deal, Nalwa Aero becomes Urban-Air Port’s preferred eVTOL partner in India, and Urban-Air Port becomes Nalwa Aero’s preferred infrastructure partner.

The companies also plan to combine Nalwa’s Nalwa 5X eVTOL with Urban-Air Port’s vertiport systems to deliver a flexible and scalable aircraft plus infrastructure offering. Their first joint initiative will be a physical showcase integrating the Nalwa 5X with Urban-Air Port’s Air-One vertiport.

Their long-term goal is to support government programmes such as UDAN and the helipad buildout along highways, aiming to develop solutions for cargo, passenger, medical and defence applications. The rollout will begin with a three-phase approach: market preparation in 2025, demonstration in 2026, and full deployment thereafter.

Andrea Wu, CEO of Urban-Air Port, says: “India's aviation market, the third-largest globally, is poised for exponential growth, driven by a burgeoning middle class, rising disposable incomes and government initiatives like UDAN. Handling 200 million passengers annually yet representing only 4% of global air traffic, India has immense potential to leapfrog other nations by integrating AAM into its infrastructure rollout. This partnership positions us to lead that transformation.”

Kuljeet Singh Sandhu, CEO of Nalwa Aero, adds: “Partnering with Urban-Air Port, a global leader in AAM infrastructure since 2017, enables us to scale our business with a full-stack solution of eVTOL aircraft and landing infrastructure, tailored to the needs of the government, our clients and the Indian market.”
