Textron Aviation is offering Starlink high-speed internet as an upgrade for more of its Cessna Citation aircraft, including the Caravan, Sovereign and Sovereign+. This follows the FAA’s approval of AeroMech’s supplemental type certificate, which enables the system’s installation.

The upgrade makes use of Starlink’s constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, which provide coverage over land, water and remote areas. Textron Aviation says the system will be especially useful in places where traditional in-flight Wi-Fi lacks service.

Senior vice president of customer support Brian Rohloff says: “The Cessna Caravan is so versatile, it can go almost anywhere, and Textron Aviation understands the importance of providing a connectivity solution in more of the places our customers want to go.” He adds: “We invest in product upgrades based on customer feedback, and they have been asking for the best in-flight connectivity options available in aviation today.”

The upgrade is available at North American and selected international Textron Aviation service centres. It includes a Starlink kit with antenna, power unit, two access points and harnessing.
