Maldivian engineers report impact from AGlaze trial
Their trial followed Trans Maldivian Airways’ successful three-month evaluation, which led the larger carrier to adopt the sealant across all 65 floatplanes.
Maldivian has 11 DHC-6 aircraft.

Island Aviation Services Limited, operating as Maldivian, has begun using AGlaze Aviation Sealant on its Twin Otter fleet, and is already seeing positive results.

“It's been four days since we applied AGlaze on one of our Twin Otters, and we are already seeing noticeable benefits,” says Mohamed Ibrahim, chief engineer DHC-6 at IASL. “There is a visible improvement in the aircraft's shine and washing the aircraft has become easier, our team advises. More importantly, we have observed that less exhaust residue is holding on the flame track area. We would now like to continue using this on all of our 11 DHC-6 aircraft.”

Maldivian introduced AGlaze following the trial and adoption by Trans Maldivian Airways, the world’s largest floatplane operator. TMA tested the sealant on two Twin Otters over three months, and is now applying it fleet-wide as each aircraft comes out of maintenance with new paint.

AGlaze is designed to protect aircraft exteriors in harsh environments while reducing cleaning time and improving looks. It also supports ESG goals by cutting water and chemical use. Gryphon Aviation Partners, exclusive sales agent for the aviation sector, has built a fuel savings calculator to demonstrate the drag reduction and potential emission benefits.
