EHang has successfully completed pilotless, human-carrying flights of its EH216-S eVTOL aircraft in Indonesia. The demonstration took place with permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and support from the Ministry of Transportation. The aircraft was operated by Prestige Aviation, EHang's Indonesian client, which received the relevant flight permissions.
Onboard the EH216-S were Prestige Aviation executive chairman Rudy Salim, the Indonesian President’s special envoy Raffi Ahmad, and other passengers. The flight was witnessed by officials including Bambang Soesatyo, former chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly, and Sokhib Al Rokhman, director of the Directorate of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations.
Bambang said the demonstration showed Indonesia's readiness to enter the pilotless air mobility era. Sokhib added that he welcomed aviation technology such as EHang’s eVTOL, calling for government support and collaboration.
The EH216-S can operate without runways, offering solutions to traffic congestion in cities and enabling inter-island travel. The flights followed previous demonstrations in Bali and build on the March 2025 certification from China’s CAAC. EHang aims to develop commercial UAM models suited to Indonesia’s geography and market needs.
