SITA and Urban-Air Port join forces for smart AAM launch
The collaboration has brought together modular vertiport infrastructure and digital technology, supporting scalable VTOL operations in cities.

SITA has partnered with Urban-Air Port (UAP) to support the roll-out of advanced air mobility (AAM) through the combination of modular vertiport infrastructure and integrated digital platforms. The project will support the use of eVTOL aircraft, aiming to reduce emissions and ease pressure on current transport networks.

UAP’s patented vertiport technology, known as the 'Vertical Airfield', offers compact, scalable infrastructure suitable for both civilian and defence operations. At just 20 per cent the size of traditional airfields, the design supports hybrid VTOL operations, offers integrated energy storage and is built for deployment at height.

The partnership will deliver what is described as the world’s first fully integrated software-defined vertiport, with a co-developed AirOne vertiport as its centrepiece. UAP brings expertise in modular and rapidly deployable ground facilities, while SITA contributes long-standing knowledge in passenger processing, communications and data systems.

A key feature is the Vertiport Management System (VMS), which uses a cloud-based platform to manage planning, resource allocation, weather monitoring and security. Automation and AI tools will help support safe, scalable and efficient vertiport operations in dense urban environments.

“Urban air mobility holds vast potential to shape the future of travel, but it must scale rapidly, safely and intelligently,” says SITA’s director of business development for travel and transport Benoit Verbaere. “We’re leveraging decades of aviation expertise to build the digital backbone of the AAM ecosystem.”

“This isn't just about new infrastructure,” adds Urban-Air Port CEO Andrea Wu. “It’s about delivering a fully-connected experience for passengers, VTOL and transport operators.”
