Chodai pre-orders SD-05 as part of wider eVTOL collaboration
SkyDrive and Chodai have previously worked together alongside Osaka Metro to explore infrastructure and route options for future eVTOL services.

SkyDrive has received a pre-order for one SD-05 aircraft from Tokyo-based construction consultant Chodai. The order builds on an existing collaboration between the two firms which began in 2022 and focuses on the development of infrastructure and operations for eVTOL aircraft.

SkyDrive carried out a demo flight of the SD-05 at the Osaka Expo in April 2025 and further demonstrations are planned for this summer. As part of a project with Chodai and Osaka Metro, the company is evaluating potential routes and vertiport locations in the Morinomiya area and other regions around Osaka, along with operational safety and noise mitigation.

Chodai intends to use its SD-05 across a range of applications including tourism, city-to-city passenger transport and goods delivery. The company is also working with local governments and enterprises to support regional mobility initiatives.
