FCG OPS has acquired the business of Astra Aviation, a ground services company with a wide footprint across Africa. The Latvian-based provider of handling and OCC services aims to expand its reach in Sub-Saharan Africa through the deal.
Founded in 2005, Astra is known for its local expertise and partnerships in the region’s aviation sector. The move is part of FCG OPS’ plan to deliver consistent, high-quality ground handling and trip support in areas where operations are often complex for international carriers.
CEO Sergey Starkov says the acquisition supports the company’s expansion goals and improves its ability to serve global clients across Africa, Central Asia and Europe. “Africa's aviation industry is rapidly developing but remains operationally challenging, especially for European and North American carriers,” he says. “By combining Astra Aviation's local expertise with our service standards and infrastructure, we're perfectly positioned to bridge this gap.”
Astra founder and managing director Phil Eyre adds, “We're proud to become part of FCG OPS, a company that shares our dedication to service excellence. This transition not only expands our service capabilities but also provides our clients with enhanced operational efficiency and the technological approach of FCG OPS.”
Astra’s team of airport supervisors and Africa-based dispatchers are joining FCG OPS, contributing local knowledge and continuity for clients. The onboarding process is due to complete within six months, with uninterrupted service expected throughout.
