The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has signed a contract with Bombardier Aerospace to purchase two pre-owned Global 6500 aircraft. The SEK 1.1 billion agreement includes the initial training of aircrew and technicians.
The aircraft will be designated Tp 106 within the Swedish Air Force and are to replace the Gulfstream IV and G550 currently used for head of state transport. Delivery to FMV is expected in November and December 2025.
The Tp 106 aircraft are VIP-configured and are intended to improve the availability of government aviation. They also share a platform with the Swedish Armed Forces’ GlobalEye surveillance aircraft, bringing logistical and operational synergies.
FMV’s project manager for the Tp 106, Björn Hellbom, says: “The new aircraft represent a modernisation of the current fleet and ensure the availability of state aviation over time. Unlike the current system, the individual aircraft are identical, which also simplifies handling by the Armed Forces. The implementation of the deal has been characterised by good cooperation between the authorities and the supplier Bombardier.”
