Davinci Jets and Wyvern have reached a milestone as the North Carolinan aircraft management firm becomes the 100th member of Wyvern's progressive Flight Leader Program. While maintaining the Wyvern Wingman PRO certification, Davinci Jets continues to showcase a commitment to enhancing safety and organisational performance.
The Davinci Jets team was recognised by the Wyvern team at the Flight Safety Foundation's 70th annual Business Aviation Safety Summit (BASS) held in Charlotte, North Carolina. BASS is a forum held annually for the aerospace industry to meet in a collaborative environment to identify safety concerns, devise approaches to reduce risk and implement initiatives to improve safety.
The Wyvern Flight Leader Program (FLP) is designed to transform how aerospace organisations approach safety by prioritising culture, professionalism and human performance. Recognising that human and organisational factors contribute to 80 per cent of serious aerospace incidents, the FLP places significant emphasis on these often-overlooked aspects of the safety ecosystem. This proactive focus not only strengthens the safety framework of individual organisations but also raises industry standards by addressing the core elements that underpin a strong safety culture.
“Davinci Jets is honoured to be the 100th member to join Wyvern's Flight Leader Program. Safety has always been at the forefront of Davinci Jets operation since its inception in 2004. We strive to deliver our clients the best customer experience, and safety plays such an important role within that experience,” states Eric Legvold, Davinci Jets CEO.
The Wyvern Flight Leader Program is designed for Part 91 flight departments and Part 135 charter operators committed to advancing safety performance beyond regulatory compliance, emphasising excellence in SMS, human factors and organisational safety culture. Through personalised guidance from seasoned Flight Leader coaches, the programme fosters continuous improvement and alignment with international safety standards, enabling operators to proactively elevate their safety practices and organisational effectiveness.
“Davinci Jets' commitment to aerospace excellence and safety exemplifies the core values of the Wyvern Flight Leader Program,” notes Sonnie Bates, Wyvern CEO. “By joining this innovative programme, Davinci Jets demonstrates its dedication to prioritising safety culture, professionalism and continuous improvement as foundational principles, setting a benchmark for the industry.”
Andy Day, Wyvern SVP, operations, adds: “Davinci Jets' participation in the Wyvern Flight Leader Program highlights its proactive approach to advancing safety and operational excellence. This milestone reflects its dedication to fostering a robust safety culture and addressing human and organisational factors that underpin effective safety management. Its commitment sets a high standard within the aerospace industry and underscores its focus on the wellbeing of its clients on every flight.”
The Flight Leader Program pairs an organisation with one of Wyvern's seasoned, highly experienced ‘coaches’ who provide mentoring and recommendations to mature their safety management programme. Unlike traditional audits, the FLP aims to focus on areas where the organisation's safety practitioner may need suggestions and guidance in elevating safety performance and ensuring compliance with the FAA Part 5 mandate.
Founded in 2006 as Jetpool, Davinci Jets has established itself as a leader in private aviation, offering comprehensive services such as professional aircraft management, private air charter and an MRO facility. Under the leadership of Eric Legvold, a seasoned aviator and professional aviation manager with over 20 years of experience flying corporate business jets, Davinci Jets continues to strive for excellence. Eric's extensive operational expertise, combined with thousands of flight hours in aircraft such as Cessna Citation Jets and Gulfstreams, has been instrumental in shaping Davinci's unwavering commitment to safety and service. His leadership has guided the company to maintain rigorous standards, ensuring a flawless safety record and earning recognition as both an IS-BAO and Wyvern-approved operator.
