Owner’s briefcase inspires bespoke G650 interior
A flowing carpet, precise woodwork and a one-off light fitting were created to match a detailed customer brief by Duncan Aviation’s Provo team.
The seat leather was colour-matched to the owner’s favourite briefcase by sending it directly to the vendor.

Designing the interior of a private aircraft often demands balancing technical precision with personal taste. For a recently completed Gulfstream G650 refurbishment at Duncan Aviation’s Provo, Utah, facility, senior lead designer Molly Pfeiffer was handed a clear brief. The owner had a firm vision, down to the exact grain and hue of his favourite leather briefcase and Pfeiffer was tasked with translating that into a cohesive, highly bespoke interior.

“She helped guide him into what would look good together and in the end, created one of the most amazing interiors I’ve ever seen,” says completions sales representative George Bajo of Duncan Aviation.

The seats, crafted in a custom orange leather that defies exact colour description, are banded in copper-plated trim. The Kosipo veneer, an African mahogany, was applied horizontally—an atypical method that added complexity but enhanced the interior’s visual flow. Cabinetmakers achieved flawless alignment across bulkheads and doors.

Another standout element is the carpet. The client requested a rich chocolate brown, but nothing hit the mark until Pfeiffer proposed a flowing-river design. “We were very intentional with how we wanted the river to move through the cabin,” she says. The final product, made from a mix of wool and silk, draws the eye organically down the aisle.

A custom reading light bezel was also developed for a specific seat location. This required 3D scanning, SolidWorks modelling and collaboration across engineering, design and production teams to fabricate and certify a solution without disrupting the schedule.

“The final product looked just how we pictured it,” says engineering crew lead Drew Govert. “It was fun to be involved in a unique request like this.”

Other details include a saddle-coloured suede divan, light woven fabric sidewalls, white galley stone with beige veining and green exterior accent stripes matching the customer’s company colours. The owner's representative described the final reveal as “everything that he had envisioned plus some” and praised Duncan Aviation for its attention to detail and commitment to exceeding expectations.
