The NBAA has presented its Silk Scarf Award to Mary Miller, vice president of industry and government affairs at Signature Aviation, in recognition of more than four decades of service to business aviation.
Miller began her career in 1981 at Butler Aviation, later becoming vice president of customer relations for Signature Aviation at Washington National Airport. In the wake of 9/11, she kept Signature’s DC operations running and lobbied for the return of general aviation access to the airport. She played a key role in establishing the DCA Access Standard Security Plan, helping operators secure clearance under the post-9/11 framework.
Since 2010, she has represented both Signature and BBA Aviation at senior level, contributed to the Greater Washington Business Aviation Association and served on the boards of NATA and the NAA. She joined the National Aviation Hall of Fame’s board of trustees in March 2024.
Signature CEO Tony Lefebvre says: “Mary’s contributions over the past four decades have been immeasurable. She has been a devoted bridge-builder, a fearless advocate and the industry’s go-to in times of both crisis and celebration.”
NBAA president Ed Bolen adds: “Mary has been an invaluable representative for our industry. Her passion for aviation and her singular ability to connect with people from every walk of life have made her an indispensable pillar of our aviation community, in the nation’s capital, across the country and around the world.”
The Silk Scarf Award honours those who have made significant contributions to business aviation and aims to inspire future generations of industry professionals.
