MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH has received STC #2025S03-21 from Brazil's Agencia Nacional de Aviacao Civil (ANAC) for installing the five-blade MTV-27-1-E-C-F-R(G)/CFRL250-103 propeller on the M7 Aerospace SA226-T(B) and SA227 series. These aircraft use engines TPE331-10U-( ), TPE331-11U-(), TPE331-12UA-(), TPE331-12UAR-() and TPE331-12UHR-().
The installation also holds supplemental type certificates from EASA, FAA, TCCA Canada, DGAC Mexico and INAC Venezuela.
MT-Propeller vice president Martin Albrecht says the installation offers multiple advantages:
- Ground roll distance shortened by approximately 50 metres (165 feet).
- Take-off distance over a 50-foot obstacle shortened by approximately 80 metres (260 feet).
- Climb performance improved by up to 80 feet per minute on both two-engine and single-engine operation.
- Cruise performance improved by up to 2 knots.
- Approximately 20 pounds lighter than the McCauley propeller and 65 pounds lighter than the Dowty Rotol propeller.
- Aircraft external noise levels reduced by about 5 dB(A), with cabin noise down by 3 to 4 dB(A).
- Cooler ITTs during engine startup due to start times shortened by one-third.
- No engine modifications required.
The MT-Propeller's smaller diameter provides increased ground clearance, reducing blade tip erosion and damage from foreign object debris (FOD). Its composite blades significantly lower internal and external noise, have no life limitation, can be repaired after FOD and incorporate nickel alloy leading edges for enhanced erosion protection. Additionally, the blades offer excellent vibration damping for smoother operation.
MT-Propeller manufactures composite propellers ranging from two to seven blades for engines up to 5,000 hp and is OEM supplier to more than 90% of Europe's aircraft manufacturers and 30% of those in the US. It holds over 230 STCs globally, with more than 33,000 propeller systems and 115,000 blades currently in operation, accumulating over 180 million fleet hours. Its five-bladed turboprop propellers have a TBO of 4,500 hours or six years. A network of 62 certified service centres globally supports MT-Propeller products.
