entrol, the manufacturer of EASA and FAA certified FNPT, FTD and FFS flight simulators, has launched the MR Hoist Operator Station, a solution for training hoist operators in critical mission scenarios. This new system integrates mixed reality technology to create an immersive and highly realistic training environment, focusing on the essential communication between the pilot and hoist operator.

The MR Hoist Operator Station utilises mixed reality goggles to provide an interactive, immersive experience for hoist operators. The system integrates seamlessly with entrol's flight simulators to offer a complete training solution, ensuring operators are well-prepared for emergency situations.

Key features of the MR Hoist Operator Station include: mixed reality goggles, providing a real-time interactive environment, allowing operators to train with real-world scenarios, including emergency situations, rescue operations and other high-stakes environments; winch cable control in four axes, allowing for the simulation of complex hoist manoeuvres, including emergency scenarios such as engine failure or spinning cables; phraseology and communication, specially designed to improve pilot-hoist operator communication during missions, ensuring efficient and precise coordination in high-stress environments; and customisable mission scenarios, tailored scenarios for SAR, firefighting and offshore operations, giving operators the flexibility to train in real-time, dynamic conditions.

Key benefits of the MR Hoist Operator Station include: a realistic training experience, with an immersive, real-time training environment with a fully integrated system, improving the operator's ability to perform in real-world conditions; seamless integration, fully compatible with entrol's existing flight simulators, ensuring continuity across all training platforms; enhanced situational awareness – the real-time communication and interactive training reduce errors, improve decision-making skills and prepare operators for complex rescue missions; and it is a modular and scalable solution – the system can be adapted to meet the specific needs of different missions and different aircraft configurations, ensuring the versatility of the system across various training environments.

The MR Hoist Operator Station not only meets the current needs of the industry but also advances the future of flight simulation for critical mission training. By integrating realistic scenarios, mission-based training and the latest in MR technology, this system revolutionises how hoist operators prepare for complex, high-risk operations.

As the first integrated solution of its kind, this technology sets a new industry standard for training in rescue operations, firefighting and offshore missions. By focusing on both the pilot and the hoist operator, entrol ensures that both parties are fully prepared for the challenges they face in the field.
