EHang receives China's approval for human-carrying pilotless flights
CAAC awarded the first operator certificates to EHang units in Guangzhou and Hefei as low-altitude services prepare for expansion.

EHang General Aviation and HeYi Aviation, EHang’s subsidiaries in Guangzhou and Hefei, have received the first air operator certificates for civil pilotless human-carrying aerial vehicles from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This marks the formal start of China’s low-altitude commercial flight sector, allowing public ticket sales for tourism, sightseeing and other passenger operations.

Flights using the EH216 aircraft will initially operate from designated sites in Guangzhou and Hefei. EHang expects further applications such as urban commuting to follow as regulatory frameworks and infrastructure evolve. The company has announced that it will continue working with regional partners to expand commercial sites and support other operators applying for certificates of their own.

EHang has already secured type, airworthiness and production certification for the EH216. With the addition of the operator certificate, it becomes the first eVTOL company globally to obtain all four key regulatory approvals for passenger-carrying services. The milestone has been positioned by EHang as a step towards broader deployment and acceptance of low-altitude urban mobility in China.
