FlyJets has introduced a secondary exchange enabling users to resell charter flight seats, jet card hours and pre-purchased empty legs. The FlyJets Exchange is designed to help flyers lower costs and fly together while creating added revenue options for operators and brokers.
The platform, featured within FlyJets’ mobile and web apps, will include time-based auctions, real-time bidding and instant purchase functionality. It complements FlyJets’ primary marketplace, which delivers automated charter options at wholesale prices through algorithm-based scheduling tools.
“Now that we're operating with both automated charter offerings and the forthcoming secondary exchange, FlyJets is primed to drive real efficiency in terms of increasing aircraft utilisation within the air charter industry,” says FlyJets founder and CEO Jessica Fisher. “We have seen a tremendous amount of interest from flyers looking to group up with others on various routes and believe that the secondary exchange will provide an effective solution that benefits flyers and aircraft providers alike. We are also hoping to be incrementally helpful for the urban air mobility (UAM) networks of the future.”
A sample scenario might see a $20,000 super-midsize jet flight from Teterboro to Opa-Locka reduced to $11,000 after selling off three seats for $9,000. Flyers interested in early access can register via FlyJets’ website.
