Bombardier’s Global 7500 has reached a major milestone, surpassing 100 speed records. Its latest achievement was a flight from ACI Jet in San Luis Obispo, California, to London Biggin Hill Airport, completed on 28 February in nine hours and 17 minutes at an average speed of nearly 1,000km/hr.
Other record-setting flights include Tokyo to San Francisco, London to Riyadh, Hartford to Dubai and Tokyo to Toronto. The aircraft previously completed the longest recorded business jet flight, covering 8,225 nautical miles from Sydney to Detroit, and the first ever non-stop mission from London City Airport to Los Angeles.
Jean-Christophe Gallagher, executive vice president of aircraft sales and Bombardier Defense, says: “Bombardier customers need a reliable, fast, efficient business tool that gets them to their destination quickly and efficiently, and the Global 7500 aircraft sets the standard in the ultra-long-range class for its outstanding technological advancements and impressive performance capabilities. As these impressive records attest, the aircraft consistently shows it has the speed to successfully complete any type of mission.”
The Global 7500, with a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a range of 7,700 nautical miles, features the Smooth Flĕx Wing, designed for aerodynamic efficiency, reduced fuel burn and enhanced ride comfort. Its cabin includes four living spaces, a full-size kitchen and a dedicated crew suite.
Bombardier is preparing for the Global 8000’s entry into service later this year, offering a top speed of Mach 0.94 and an extended range of 8,000 nautical miles. Existing Global 7500 customers can upgrade their aircraft for enhanced speed, range and cabin comfort.
