Lufttransport secures Vår Energi offshore contract for AW189
Two AW189 helicopters will be added to Lufttransport’s fleet, strengthening offshore transport capabilities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The contract follows Lufttransport’s recent agreement with Equinor, bringing its AW189 fleet to seven.

Lufttransport RW AS has been awarded a contract by Vår Energi ASA to operate two Leonardo AW189 helicopters for offshore transport from Sola and Florø. The agreement follows the company’s recent contract with Equinor, which includes five AW189s, bringing Lufttransport’s total offshore fleet expansion to seven helicopters.

The AW189s, scheduled for delivery in 2026, will be owned by Milestone Aviation Group under a purchase and leaseback agreement with Vår Energi. Lufttransport’s CEO Erlend H. Olsen says: “With both Vår Energi and Equinor as customers, we strengthen our position in the market and expand our business in offshore helicopter services.”

Vår Energi aims to diversify its offshore transport options, reducing reliance on a single helicopter type. “By introducing the Leonardo AW189 to the shelf, we are making our helicopter traffic more resilient,” adds Torger Rød, COO of Vår Energi.

Lufttransport, with extensive experience in Norwegian offshore operations and Leonardo aircraft, has been approved by the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority for these missions. The agreement with Vår Energi has a maximum duration of 12 years if all options are exercised.
