Skyports Infrastructure and Abu Dhabi-based LODD have unveiled vertiport designs for three key locations in Abu Dhabi, advancing air mobility integration in the Emirate. The project, announced at the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium 2025, aims to support electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) operations and autonomous aerial logistics.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Skyports and LODD outlines plans to develop infrastructure connecting key sites, including Al Bateen, Yas Island and Khalifa Port. The network is designed to accelerate cargo and passenger movement while improving logistical efficiency.
Rashid Al Mannai, CEO of LODD, says: “Abu Dhabi serves as a global model for air mobility, thanks to its progressive systems. These vertiports will lay the foundation for a future-ready air mobility network, supporting both commercial eVTOL passenger services and autonomous aerial logistics.”
Duncan Walker, CEO of Skyports, adds: “The unveiling of these designs and signing of an MoU highlights the progress being made to define and develop Abu Dhabi’s AAM infrastructure network. The development of a comprehensive passenger and cargo network will enable us to bring wide-ranging benefits to the Emirate, for both people and businesses.”
The project follows feasibility studies assessing 14 potential sites, with input from 34 stakeholders. A detailed study has been submitted to the Abu Dhabi government to guide development.
