SPAES and Østnes upgrade H125 fleet
Modifications include enhanced communications, improved pilot visibility and upgraded transponders for nine Airbus H125 helicopters.
A new satcom unit with GPS, Iridium and GSM antennas was installed to enhance tactical communications.

SPAES and Ostnes Helicopters AS have completed modifications and equipment upgrades for nine Airbus H125 helicopters. SPAES handled the certification process as a Part 21J organization, while Ostnes Helicopters provided operational support at its maintenance facility, Østnes Aero, at Eggemoen airfield.

Modifications included cockpit enhancements such as Active Noise Reduction (ANR) headset connectors, a Push-to-Talk (PTT) button and a new 28-volt CD/20-amp power outlet for special equipment. A VHF-FM radio and a Flightcell DZMx satcom unit with GPS, Iridium and GSM antennas were also installed for improved connectivity.

Additional upgrades included a baggage compartment door sensor, a transponder replacement from Garmin GTX 335R to GTX 345R and a Maximum Pilot View Kit (MPVK) to enhance downward visibility. The helicopters were repainted in a custom colour scheme to match company branding.

Fabian Passler, project manager at SPAES, says: “We are pleased about the successful cooperation with Ostnes Helicopters AS in the modification of nine Airbus H125 helicopters. This project has once again demonstrated the importance of smooth coordination between all parties involved in order to ensure the highest safety standards.”
