4Air has launched an integration with ForeFlight, allowing users to automate reporting requirements under the EU’s ReFuelEU regulation. The system streamlines data collection, helping aircraft operators comply with ReFuelEU's anti-tankering provision set to take effect in January 2025.
ReFuelEU, part of the EU’s Fit for 55 package, mandates that fuel suppliers must provide at least 2% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at major EU airports starting in 2025. Operators who tanker fuel to avoid purchasing SAF may face fines. To comply, operators must monitor expected fuel needs versus actual uplifted fuel, with penalties for discrepancies. Exemptions are available but require detailed documentation.
4Air president Kennedy Ricci says: “Aviation has a complex and rapidly changing regulatory environment, which creates a challenge for aircraft operators as they look to ensure their operations are abiding by national and international regulations. By automating the collection of flight planning data, we are not only simplifying the reporting process but also empowering operators to focus on their core operations.”
Through 4Air’s programme, ForeFlight customers can reduce manual data entry and ensure accurate compliance with both fuel monitoring and the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), which now includes contrail emissions reporting. The tool is available to all existing ForeFlight users at no extra cost.
