Universal Aviation Spain is constructing Madrid’s first dedicated general aviation hangar at Madrid-Barajas Airport (LEMD). Scheduled for completion in the second half of 2026, the facility will offer 5,000 sqm of hangar space and a 10,000 sqm apron area, offering access to the Spanish capital's business and cultural centres with 24/7 operations capability.
“This project represents a significant milestone in Madrid's business aviation infrastructure, setting new standards for luxury, security and operational excellence in Spain's capital,” says Gonzalo Barona Jr., general manager of Universal Aviation Spain “We're creating more than just a hangar; we're establishing a premium facility that addresses the specific needs of discerning flight departments and aircraft owners who demand the highest standards of service and security.”
The hangar will incorporate four independently operable doors, allowing operational flexibility and the capacity to accommodate long-range business jets and narrow-body commercial aircraft. The facility will meet feature comprehensive fire suppression systems meeting NFPA 409 standards and will include purpose-built office spaces and 200 sqm of storage.
Construction is set to begin in late 2025, coinciding with Madrid’s Formula One race series (2026-2035) and increasing demand for premium aircraft storage and handling services.
