UAV Leasing reveals BlinkShare to recycle empty legs
The company's new platform uses 3D mapping and crowd-funded flights to improve efficiency and sustainability in aviation.

The UAV Leasing Company has introduced BlinkShare, a Progressive Web App (PWA) designed to connect travellers with operators to optimise empty leg flights. Empty legs, the return or repositioning flights of private jets without passengers, are a common inefficiency in the industry. BlinkShare addresses this by enabling operators to offset costs while offering travellers a more affordable way to experience private aviation.

The app uses a 3D globe interface, providing real-time situational awareness and highlighting even the smallest airstrips. This interactive map allows travellers to post their needs, enabling nearby aircraft to respond to requests and presenting opportunities for "hitch-jetting."

Other key features of BlinkShare include:

- Operator and broker solutions: Part 135 operators and brokers can manage flight listings and data directly within the app.

- Crowd-funded flights: Travellers can reserve seats for free, helping flight managers consolidate demand effectively.

- Enhanced security: The platform includes encrypted messaging, Know Your Customer compliance and crypto token-based payments to ensure secure transactions.

Charles Hergott, founder of The UAV Leasing Company and the visionary behind BlinkShare, says: "More than 40% of private jets fly empty. Every day, over 2,000 passenger-less flights, representing more than 30,000 seats, go unused. These flights not only perpetuate inefficiencies and tarnish the image of private aviation but also represent a significant missed revenue opportunity for operators. BlinkShare aims to bridge this gap by optimising empty legs, whether for passengers who missed commercial flights, those travelling with pets or those requiring special medical attention. The potential to revolutionise private aviation is enormous."
