Why visit ACE ’25?
EHang has signed a project cooperation agreement with the management committee of the Weihai High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Shandong Province, to establish a manufacturing base for pilotless eVTOLs, specifically the EH216-S, and to contribute to the growth of the low-altitude economy in China.
Under the agreement, EHang will deliver an initial batch of 30 EH216-S aircraft, with full payment already completed. Both parties will work together to develop a research and development and production hub in Shandong, which will serve as EHang’s primary manufacturing base in the province.
The collaboration will also focus on creating a low-altitude economy industrial park, aiming to integrate the region’s low-altitude economy with cultural tourism and other local industries. The project will also explore the launch of low-altitude sightseeing services, with flight routes planned for key tourist sites, including Weihai International Beach and Xiaoshi Island. These routes are expected to offer an alternative to traditional sightseeing tours, integrating scenic views with cutting-edge technology.
EHang will assist with the local operator’s personnel training, infrastructure setup, route planning and regulatory preparations, including the application for an Air Operator Certificate. The goal is to accelerate commercial operations of the EH216-S in the Weihai High-Tech Zone, with the government area facilitating favourable policies and infrastructure development to support the project’s success.
This initiative aligns with Shandong Province’s recently unveiled Three-Year Action Plan for the Low-Altitude Economy (2025–2027), which includes the development of low-altitude aircraft platforms, intra-city UAV routes, and the commercialisation of pilotless passenger-carrying aircraft by 2027. The cooperation between EHang and Weihai High-Tech Zone is expected to be a key driver in the region’s low-altitude economic growth.
Zhao Wang, COO of EHang, says: “EHang's EH216 series products are in high demand across a range of industries, including tourism, emergency response, logistics and firefighting. With the diverse application scenarios in Weihai, we are well-positioned to accelerate commercial operations and market adoption, and jointly advance safe, intelligent and eco-friendly air mobility solutions.”
