Honeywell and Bombardier collaborate for next-gen aviation
The collaboration's propulsion-based workstreams will focus on evolutions of power, reliability and maintainability, led by the next-generation model of Honeywell's HTF7K engine.

Honeywell has revealed a strategic agreement with Bombardier, intended to advance the technology available across Bombardier's current and future range of aircraft, specifically in the areas of avionics, propulsion and satellite communications. Honeywell anticipates that the partnership's value will reach $17 billion throughout its duration.

The two companies will collaborate on developing avionics systems that will allow for high level adaptability to mission requirements, improving situational awareness and improved safety.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to co-innovate and advance next generation technologies, including Anthem avionics and engines," says Vimal Kapur, chairman and CEO of Honeywell. "Growing our long-term collaborative relationship with Bombardier is directly connected to Honeywell's focus on compelling megatrends; automation, the future of aviation and energy transition."

"This new partnership creates unprecedented opportunities for Bombardier," adds Eric Martel, president and chief executive officer of Bombardier. "Honeywell's differentiated technology is the key reason we decided to collaboratively build a bright future with them."

As part of the partnership, the companies will work to certify and deliver Honeywell's JetWave X SATCOM system for the Bombardier Global and Challenger aircraft families, both for new production and aftermarket installation. Bombardier will also have access to Honeywell's full suite of next generation L-Band satellite communications products and antennas, providing future safety services capabilities.

Additionally, all pending litigation between the companies has been resolved. Bombardier initially filed a lawsuit against Honeywell in 2016 before the Superior Court of Québec. A settlement has resolved the lawsuit and a pending request for appeal before the Supreme Court of Canada, with the terms of the settlement agreement being kept confidential between both parties.
