Wheels Up takes on GrandView Aviation assets
Wheels Up has closed its new $332 million revolving equipment notes facility with Bank of America and completed the acquisition of GrandView Aviation's fleet of 17 Embraer Phenom 300 and Phenom 300E aircraft.
Phenoms feature heavily in the plan.

Global Medical Response (GMR) has finalised the sale of GrandView Aviation's assets to Wheels Up. The transaction, which has officially closed, marks a strategic move by GMR to sharpen its focus. “This strategic divestiture of GrandView's charter-focused assets aligns with our ongoing commitment to strengthen and invest in our core EMS business,” says Nick Loporcaro, CEO of GMR.

The sale of GrandView Aviation's assets follows the recent divestiture of Access2Care, GMR's managed transportation business. These decisions were made over the course of many months and align with GMR's long-term strategy to support and grow its EMS operations.

“These moves position us to pursue exciting growth opportunities that will expand our capabilities and service areas,” Loporcaro goes on. “For example, we recently announced a significant investment in new medical aircraft aimed at improving healthcare access in rural areas and modernising air medical services nationwide.”

GMR's fleet expansion includes the addition of 43 new helicopters over the next three years. The plan also features the acquisition of eight King Air 350i twin turboprop aircraft and two long-range Challenger 605 jets to enhance international and domestic medical care for critically ill and injured patients.

“Our commitment to investing in emergency medical solutions will ensure we remain at the forefront of providing accessible high-quality care” Loporcaro states. “With this strategic realignment, we are reinforcing our dedication to our mission and enhancing our ability to deliver life-saving care at a moment's notice.”

All GrandView employees will be retained for at least 90 days, and management teams from both GrandView and Wheels Up are working with employees affected by the sale.

Wheels Up has closed its new $332 million revolving equipment notes facility with Bank of America and completed the acquisition of GrandView Aviation's fleet of 17 Embraer Phenom 300 and Phenom 300E aircraft, and related maintenance assets and customer programmes.

“Our fleet transition starts today with the strategic acquisition of GrandView's Phenom fleet and the immediate introduction of the Phenom fleet into our programmatic member as well as charter offerings as we head into the peak holiday travel season,” says George Mattson, chief executive officer. “By expanding our fleet with newer, more capable aircraft, we are positioning Wheels Up to remain at the forefront of our industry, offering our customers private aviation solutions that deliver greater flexibility, enhanced comfort and the reliable access our customers expect.”
