Austria-based full-flight simulator manufacturer Axis Flight Simulation is putting cutting-edge virtual and mixed reality (VR/MR) technologies at the forefront of pilot training, collaborating with Hungarian software development studio Propair Flight.

Seamlessly blending traditional and forward-thinking training methods, the partnership will combine Axis’ industry-leading ISO 9001-2015 and EASA/FAA Level D certified simulators with Propair’s advanced VR and MR integration.

“At Axis, we are committed to pioneering the future of aviation training,” says Christian Theuermann, member of the executive board. “Our partnership with Propair marks a significant leap forward in creating immersive experiences, setting new industry standards by integrating VR and MR capabilities into our wider offering to provide the next generation of training solutions.”

Broadening its product portfolio by utilising technology from Propair, an independent company within the Axis group, Axis will leverage analytics-driven virtual environments to empower pilots and instructors with actionable analytics and personalised training. Not only does this ensure they stay ahead in a rapidly changing industry, it will further reduce flight crew training times and cost, and ease the workload for both instructors and trainees.

This includes Propair’s hand-and-eye-tracking software, which enhances cockpit interactivity through comprehensive flight and biometric data on pilot performance, situational awareness and stress management.

Péter Késmárki, managing director, Propair Flight says: “Our mission is to reshape aviation training by novel, disruptive and entertaining products for both professional organisations and flight simulator enthusiasts. By working alongside Axis we can bolster the impact of our technology on the pilot training of the future. Our shared roadmap for developing immersive training solutions means we can drive innovation across the industry and set a new benchmark for aviation training excellence.”
