Sheltair Aviation has broken ground on a narrow-body size hangar at its award-winning Tampa International airport FBO in Florida.

Scheduled for completion in Q4 2025, this hangar and office facility underscores Sheltair's commitment to meeting the growing demands of business aviation storage and aircraft MRO at Tampa and to providing top-tier facilities for its clientele, including the required fire suppression system to conduct MRO operations.

The new hangar is designed to offer 50,880sq ft of hangar space and 8,344sq ft of office/shop space, perfect for accommodating a variety of aircraft, including Boeing Business Jets and similar-sized aircraft. A standout feature is its advanced tail door, which is explicitly designed to accommodate larger aircraft.

“At Sheltair we constantly strive to enhance our facilities and services to better serve our customers,” says president and CEO Lisa Holland. “This new hangar represents our ongoing commitment to excellence and our confidence in the growth of Tampa's aviation sector. We look forward to welcoming our tenants and guests to this exceptional new facility in 2025.”

The office space and shop spaces are designed to offer premium amenities to business aviation customers currently operating out of, or looking to move to, Tampa International. Their development will include an apron area of approximately 50,000sq ft, ensuring ample space for aircraft manoeuvring, refuelling and staging.

The hangar and apron area themselves boast impressive dimensions, but the entirety of the complex will stand at a monumental total of approximately 110,000sq ft. This expansion will bring Sheltair's total hangar count to 11 at the airport, further solidifying its position as a key player in the US Southeast and the Tampa International market.

Tampa International airport has seen sustained growth in general aviation over the past few years, and our partners at Sheltair have been working hard to keep up with the demand for private aircraft services,” says airport CEO Joe Lopano. “Sheltair's vision and smart planning underscores its continued commitment to creating a premier experience at its FBO complex for visitors, businesses and customers.”
