Austria and Switzerland AOC operator and aircraft management business Axis Aviation has launched an in-house dispatch service, hiring additional team members to support the running of the new service around the clock.

Head of dispatch Milan Simic says: “Axis Aviation is on an exciting growth trajectory and our in-house flight dispatchers will play a crucial role in supporting this. Having previously worked with trusted third-party operators, we made the decision to build our own team of experts to enable smoother communication across departments and to reduce response time for aircraft owners and operators, charter customers, pilots, crew and ground staff. Assembling our in-house team also allows us to develop and implement our own internal procedures, meeting all regulations and offering the highest level of safety standards.”

Based at the company’s Vienna headquarters, the team will manage flight scheduling and operations control, including planning flight paths based on performance, weather, airport conditions and airspace restrictions. The team will dedicate additional time to enhancing the sustainable impact of flights by planning routes that boost fuel efficiency.

The team will also support Axis in offering charter flights from Europe to the US, following the company gaining Part 129 Operations Specifications (OpSpecs) certification, issued by the FAA, towards the end of 2023.

Simic continues: “Our team fully integrates into clients’ family offices, becoming an extension of their own team. Combining this approach with the operational control we have gained through in-housing flight dispatching will allow us to go above and beyond, including when providing flights from Europe to the US.”
