SkyDrive has recently established a production subsidiary for its SkyDrive SD-05 eVTOL aircraft. The plant, owned by Suzuki and located in Iwata-city, Shizuoka, will be used to produce up to 100 eVTOLs per year and is slated to begin operations in the Spring of 2024.

SkyDrive and Suzuki have been collaborating in business and technology R&D, planning manufacturing and mass production systems, and the development of overseas markets. An initial focus falls on India, where the company is developing suitability use cases in areas where tourists visit historical buildings along rivers or by the sea; these routes are travelled by Indian religious pilgrims crossing mountains and rivers.

To address serious social mobility and health issues such as air pollution caused by excessive CO2 and daily urban congestion emissions, SkyDrive is continuing discussions with local stakeholders, which ties in with the decade-long achievements made by Suzuki in India and anticipates delivering on the potential of its UAM eVTOL.
