The Tecnam P2012 Sentinel SMP is the perfect platform for the Taiwan Coast Guard. Its range, payload capability and characteristics, particularly the radar, are ideal for its maritime patrol mission requirements.
The Tecnam P2012 Sentinel SMP will be used for maritime patrol by the Taiwan Coast Guard.

Apex Aviation in Taiwan is to purchase a special mission P2012 Sentinel SMP dedicated to surveillance and maritime patrolling with IMSAR mission equipment. This version represents an expansion of the model's mission capabilities.

Apex, based in Taitung, purchased its first P2012 for skydive and aerial tourism in cooperation with the Taitung local government in 2022. A second P2012 in ambulance configuration was delivered in June 2023. The company has options for another six P2012s.

This new P2012 SMP will be configured with IMSAR systems that includes two EO/IR cameras, a power box to feed all systems, radar, infrared sensor, AIS sensor and data downlink installation.

CEO Wilson Chien Yu Kao says: “We believe that the Tecnam P2012 Sentinel SMP is the perfect platform for the Taiwan Coast Guard. Its range, payload capability and characteristics are ideal to fulfil its mission requirements. Equipped with IMSAR components, the new aircraft will be well suited for maritime patrolling.”

Francesco Sferra, P2012 special mission platform sales and business development manager, experimental test pilot, adds: “Tecnam is proud to partner with IMSAR and Apex to provide to the Taiwanese Coast Guard with a modern aircraft capable of performing the mission with the effectiveness, efficiency and reliability offered by the P2012 Sentinel SMP platform.”
