Aeroplex Group Partners has completed a 4.83 acre, $16.8 million development project at Van Nuys Airport (VNY), featuring approximately 62,000 square feet of energy efficient hangar space and a 544 kilowatt solar rooftop system that supports Los Angeles' environmental sustainability goals.

The Bonseph VNY North facility, located at Signature Flight Support, will be exclusively occupied by Sun Air Jets and complements its existing operation at VNY, providing exclusive hangar, terminal, office and shop space.

Project features include: two adjacent, approximately 31,000 square foot hangars offering 8,400 square feet of attached offices, shops, lounges, restrooms and conference room facilities; 77,900 square feet of a new FAA design specified asphalt ramp area constructed with storm water mitigation systems; 20,300 square feet of new asphalt parking lot and landscape areas, including a new airport security fence, gates and a sizeable airport access control and camera system and a 544 kilowatt roof top solar FIT system with 1,280 panels, providing 578 metric tons of new carbon offsets.

“This project not only fuels the regional economy and creates high-skilled jobs in the community, it improves air quality by meeting California's green building standards, “ says Aeroplex Group Partner's, managing partner Curt Castagna. “Despite the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, our project team adopted protocols to move this project forward and make a meaningful contribution to Los Angeles' economic recovery efforts.”
