AirSprint on track for comprehensive cleaning standards

Canadian operator AirSprint is introducing PureSpace, which aims to provide fractional owners and their guests with greater peace of mind during all stages of their travel.

“The safety of our owners, guests and staff has always been our top priority,” says AirSprint president James Elian. “PureSpace is the culmination of countless hours of focus by our leadership, safety and operations teams, to ensure a clean and comfortable environment, no matter the destination.”

Launched in May, PureSpace uses active and preventative measures to maximise the health of everyone on board. The foundation for PureSpace is based around continuous aircraft disinfection and relies on Bacoban, a water-based cleaner/disinfectant that leaves behind a multi-functional surface. Once the cleaning effect dissipates, a three-dimensional nano-structured layer, 40 times thicker than human DNA, is automatically formed and left behind, allowing for up to 10 days of anti-microbial protection.

This ultra-thin film ensures that dust, protein and liquids will adhere loosely to the surface, allowing for complete and effortless removal. Bacoban holds a Health Canada Drug Identification Number and is approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, having been deemed safe for food contact surfaces according to regulatory compliance standards.

AirSprint staff conduct regular deep disinfectant cleaning of the entire aircraft using fogging machines to coat interior surfaces with Bacoban. This includes carpeting, seats, headliner, all hard surfaces, baggage compartments and lavatory, etc. After each flight, the crew use Bacoban wipes to clean all hard surfaces that may have been touched to maintain disinfection.

PureSpace also includes the following countermeasures in the protocol, which are continually adapted as new information is received: PPE kits are provided to all guests; crew members conduct daily temperature checks, wear masks and have a limited guest contact policy; aircraft medical grade HEPA filters are replaced at half their useful lifespan; and AirSprint has increased the use of its fleet to transport pilots, therefore minimising the use of higher risk commercial travel options.

Furthermore, every AirSprint hangar is now equipped with an OHAirMySpace air purifier, an advanced air and surface purification treatment device. The system is capable of rapidly breaking down and eliminating bacteria, allergens, viruses, odours and chemicals, and will run in the aircraft as well as communal areas between flights.
