Cambridge extends summer opening hours
To meet demand on Newmarket race days and Duxford air shows, Cambridge airport has announced extra opening times. The airport will be open to private executive aircraft, as well as equine cargo.

Cambridge City airport will be open on a few additional dates and hours this summer to meet customer demand for Newmarket race days and Duxford air shows.

The dates include the first two Classics horse races of the season, the 2000 Guineas on Saturday, 2 May and 1000 Guineas on Sunday, 3 May, and the Moët & Chandon July Festival between Thursday 9 July and Saturday 11 July at Newmarket, as well as Duxford Air Festival on the weekend of 23 and 24 May.

The airport will also be open on Saturday 9 May.

“These are some of the most iconic festivals of the season, and ones that attract the eyes of the world, so we wanted to ensure our customers were able to enjoy them as conveniently as possible,” says airport director Kevin Craske. “We will also be welcoming some big name horses through our airport, and hopefully our care and attention will help them achieve their full potential on their race days.

“We know these additional opening times will be welcomed by our existing customers, and hope that others will avail themselves of our facilities, once they realise how close we are to these two venues and how smooth a transition through Cambridge City Airport really is.”

The airport will be open to private executive aircraft, both chartered and privately owned, as well as equine cargo on the additional dates. Further opening dates may be added to the airport calendar later on in the year.
