Wichita's Kaman champions composite structures
The aviation industry has embraced the light weight durability of composite structures in its designs, which in turn has increased the need for composite MRO services. Kaman Composites - Wichita is equal to the task.

Kaman Composites - Wichita (KCW) has entered into a strategic long term agreement with Winglet Technology to continue to supply Citation Sovereign composite winglet systems.

“Our partnership with Winglet Technology has been very successful in providing the industry with a first class aftermarket product, and led to this agreement, which will further strengthen our relationship,” states Kaman Composites US VP and general manager Mark Withrow.

“Kaman Composites has earned this agreement with its approach to collaboration and assuring that customer expectations are understood and met,” adds Winglet Technology owner Bob Kiser. “We are excited to enter this new chapter of our partnership and product offering.”

All composite detail parts and assemblies are manufactured and delivered from the KCW facility in Wichita, Kansas. Deliveries are expected to extend through 2024.

KCW has also announced that it will extend its composite repair capabilities to the commercial and business aviation aftermarket.

The aviation industry has embraced the light weight durability of composite structures in their designs, which in turn has increased the need for composite MRO services. KCW is an accredited supplier, providing parts ranging from fairings and radomes, to rotor blades and winglets. In addition, KCW provides OEM and government MRO services for composite repair through their FAA Part 145 certified repair station.

“We work on a number of the large-scale composite structures providing MRO services for government programmes,” explains general manager Andrew Chavez. “Because of our expertise and the growing demand for composite repair that we are seeing from the aftermarket, we have decided to offer our services to a wider customer base.”

In addition to composite MRO services, KCW has capabilities in large-scale non-destructive inspection, compression moulding and vacuum forming.
