Boeing has foresight to take over ForeFlight
ForeFlight's mobile platform hosts Boeing subsidiary Jeppesen's data. Boeing's acquisition of ForeFlight means the aircraft manufacturer will be able to further develop integrated tools for its customers.

Boeing has completed the acquisition of ForeFlight, a Houston, Texas-based provider of mobile and web-based aviation applications with approximately 180 employees. ForeFlight has partnered with Boeing over the past two years to bring aviators Jeppesen's aeronautical data and charts through ForeFlight's mobile platforms. Now, the teams will integrate to bring expanded digital solutions to all segments of the aviation industry.

“We are excited to build on ForeFlight's tremendous success in personal, business and defence aviation so we can provide next-generation, integrated tools to our aviation customers today,” comments Boeing's VP of digital solutions and analytics Ken Sain. “This acquisition also expands our rapidly growing, unparalleled digital services portfolio that will enable us to compete and win in the $2.8 trillion, 10-year services market.”

Boeing says that the acquisition of ForeFlight aligns with its growth strategy of complementing organic investments with targeted, strategic investments that position the company for long-term growth.

“We are inspired by the future built at Boeing and what our teams will be able to create by coming together,” states co-founder and CEO of ForeFlight Tyson Weihs. “Our companies share a passion for delivering customers the essential tools that drive efficiency, productivity and safety.”
