Professionals.aero steps up its game with digitised credentials
Operators recruiting short term staff do not always have days or weeks to verify pilot licences. Professionals.aero has found a way to speed the process and provide instant uploads of digital credentials.

Professionals.aero, a global platform for aviation professionals in the on-demand market, has added new features to its portal based on blockchain, so that applicants can display their credentials, including digital versions of their pilot licences. CVProof is providing the blockchain solution.

“We are a start-up and began in 2016, after realising that it can be difficult for professionals to find work, or for companies to manage the on-demand side of their business," says founder and CEO Laurent Deletraz. “The site enables aviation professionals such as maintenance engineers and pilots to register with us. The platform is well-designed because we know how business aviation works. Some members of our team, including me, have been business aviation pilots or involved in aviation management and consultancy, so we know the industry.

“We can easily publish requests, and then the platform is able to connect the right people. When publishing, the person posting can provide a description of what they need and a contracting price. There is also an element of negotiation on price that can take place, so that the company can get the right price, which is not always necessarily the lowest price.”

Professionals.aero has also put systems in place to ensure that a pilot has the correct licence for the selected contract. “We analyse each registrant's licences and perform a check. We then convert them to a digital format and make a proof of them, so that the licence that we provide to the company is original and authentic, even if it is digital," continues Deletraz. “The documents cannot be modified because their fingerprins are stored and secured by blockchain technology. All of this provides trust to our users, and has made a big difference to our service, shortening the time it takes. When you need someone, you need someone now; you don’t have time for the company to take a week to check the licence. It also enables the company to reduce the cost of its quality department. We can ensure that the pilot we provide has the right licence, medical certificate and training.

“We can manage pilots individually or we can manage a pool of pilots together. The profiles can be open worldwide or privately. People can also use the platform to find consultants and begin new projects,” he concludes.
